The Canadian Mar Thoma Church, Toronto
The Canadian Mar Thoma Church,Toronto is a thriving community within the larger Mar Thoma Church Diaspora. The growth of Mar Thoma Communities in Canada dates back to the 1970’s.The resultant enthusiasm of small worshipping communities inspired our late Metropolitan The Most Reverend Dr. Juhanon Mar Thoma to permit the commencement of Holy Communion in 1972 at the Trinity College Chapel of the University of Toronto under the leadership of the late Reverend Abraham Lincoln.
As the first Mar Thoma parish in Canada, the Canadian Mar Thoma Church in Toronto has been a thriving spiritual home across the Greater Toronto Area for around 54 years. Guided by Vicar Rev. Dr. Subin John, the congregation now worships in a modern Whitchurch-Stouffville facility that comfortably accommodates at least 600 believers during Holy Qurbana. The church actively fosters spiritual growth across all generations through its Sunday School, Sevika Sanghom, Edavaka Mission, Yuvajana Sakhyam, Youth Fellowship, Young Family, and Senior Fellowship. True to its motto, "Lighted to Lighten," the community remains deeply committed to an inclusive vision of spreading Christ’s love and grace through local outreach and charitable missions.

Our Vision
To be a vibrant, welcoming, and Christ-centered community of believers, inspired by the motto “Lighted to Lighten,” shining the light of Christ’s love, grace, and truth in Toronto and beyond. Through worship, fellowship, service, and witness, we seek to nurture faith, transform lives, and bring hope to the communities we serve.
Embracing innovation, technology, and contemporary methods of communication, we strive to engage effectively with our congregation and the wider community, sharing the timeless message of the Gospel in ways that are relevant, meaningful, and accessible.
As the Canadian Mar Thoma Church Toronto, we are committed to living out our calling to be “Lighted to Lighten” by reflecting Christ’s love and truth, illuminating lives, strengthening families, serving communities, and bringing hope, healing, and transformation to a world in need.
Our Mission
